BRASELTON, Ga. – PGA TOUR professional and former Georgia Tech standout Ollie Schniederjans will host his first AJGA tournament, the Callaway Golf / Ollie Schniederjans Junior Classic, April 27 – 29, 2018 at The Country Club of the South in Johns Creek, Georgia.
“I’m thrilled to be hosting my first AJGA tournament,” Schniederjans said. “I have many great memories from competing at The Country Club of the South in my junior career and am excited to join Callaway in its effort to give back to junior golf.
Schniederjans joins more than 20 other PGA and LPGA Tour players that host AJGA tournaments, including fellow Class of 2011 members Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Daniel Berger. During his AJGA career Schniederjans was a two-time Rolex Junior All-American, was the 2009 Polo Golf Junior Classic champion and competed for the East Team at the 2010 Wyndham Cup. He finished T15 at the 2009 event at The Country Club of the South.
After signing his National Letter of Intent to Georgia Tech, Schniederjans rose to be the top-ranked amateur in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) for 41 consecutive weeks. He was a two-time Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Year and runner-up for the NCAA Individual Title. Schniederjans turned professional in 2015 and earned his first professional win on the Web.com Tour at the 2016 Air Capital Classic.
“Callaway takes pride in giving back to junior golf and we are excited to have Ollie join us in that effort,” said Callaway President and CEO Chip Brewer. “We value our tournament partnership with the AJGA and look forward to another successful tournament at The Country Club of the South.”
Since it started hosting AJGA events in 2009, The Country Club of the South has raised more than $420,000 for local charities and the AJGA’s Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant financial assistance program.
“Ollie was a standout player with the AJGA and we’re excited to welcome him back as a tournament host,” said AJGA Chief Business Officer Jason Etzen. “The AJGA believes Ollie’s experience as a junior, college and professional golfer will positively impact current AJGA members.”
The Callaway Golf / Ollie Schniederjans Junior Classic will kick off with a practice round and Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament Friday, April 27. Tournament play will consist of a 36-hole shotgun on Saturday and Sunday final-round tee times off Nos. 1 and 10 from 8 – 9:50 a.m.
