THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Augusta men’s golf team wrapped up play at the Seminole Intercollegiate and registered a third place finish, their best showing of the year. The host program from Florida State won in convincing fashion at -23 with Troy coming in second at -11. The Jaguars tied with North Alabama at -6.
Only four teams in the 15 team field finished under par for the day and Augusta was one of them at -4.

Dean Wilken and Behn Heyns led the way for AU as both posted scores of -2. Wilken had three birdies through 17 holes but his lone blemish on the scorecard came on the final hole. For Heyns, he was one-over on the front nine, but rebounded with four birdies on the back nine for his final score.
Wilken and Stefan Jacobs finished in a tie for 10th place on the individual side of things. Jacobs had two early birdies and just one bogey on his final nine holes to register a 69 on the par 70 Glen Averny Country Club course. Both AU golfers had two of their three rounds under par.
The fourth Jaguar score that counted on Tuesday was turned in by Pieter Rossouw Jr. who shot a 71. He had just two bogeys and one birdie on his scorecard.
Chapman Barnett was the final AU golfer in the field and had a final round 72.
Augusta will next be in action at the Linger Longer Invitational hosted by Kennesaw State March 16-18.
