STATESBORO, Ga. — Grace Daech and Abrianna Carstens each snagged a spot in the top 50, and the Oglethorpe women’s golf team finished 14th overall on Tuesday at The Georgia Southern University Golf Course. The event served as the spring opener for the Stormy Petrels.
Daech (82-72) finished 43rd overall and Carstens (92-80) finished 50th.
Elizabeth Powell in 57th, Katie Sulko in 69th, Morgan McKenzie in 80th, Alexis Sintuko in 84th, Madison Davis in 86th and Sophia Morettini in 98th rounded out the scoring for the Stormy Petrels as they kick off their spring in a field heavy with many nationally ranked teams. These teams included No. 2 Carnegie Mellon, No. 3 Washington-St. Louis, and No. 15 Randolph-Macon.
As a team, Oglethorpe was 25 strokes out of the top 10, finishing with a score of 357-336. The improvement from day one to day two featured individual improvements from Abrianna Carstens, Elizabeth Powell, Katie Sulko and Madison Davis, most notably Carstens who moved up 23 spots from Monday to Tuesday.
