SAVANNAH, Ga.— Ryan Dunn led with a 3 under par finish, and the No. 6 Oglethorpe men’s golf team landed fifth overall in a nationally competitive field Tuesday at Club at Savannah Harbor.
Dunn (71-68-74) finished fourth overall, only two strokes out of second place and five strokes off the lead. He posted his best round on Monday, ending the first day’s action with a 4 under 68. This included six birdies and a stretch of 4 under from holes 8 through 11. One of the highlights of his tournament was an eagle on the par 5 11th hole on Tuesday.
Jackson Hiller (70-71-80) in 38th, Beck Lewis (77-73-74) in 54th, and Corbin Scott (75-72-78) and Sam Karman (79-69-77) in 57th rounded out the scoring for the Stormy Petrels.
Like Dunn, Scott and Karman highlighted their week with strong efforts on Monday’s second round. Scott posted 16 pars alongside only one bogey. Karman’s strong stretch came at the same time when he posted five birdies across a 15-hole stretch, ending his middle round 2 under over the last four holes.
Lewis had a bogey-free 2 under stretch from holes 3 through 11 on Tuesday to highlight his week.
As a team, Oglethorpe finished fifth with rounds of 294-279-303. The field featured seven of the top 10 teams in the nation, including each of the top three and six of the top seven. The Petrels have become no strangers to nationally competitive fields, as they battled among the top programs four times in the fall.
Tournament Notes
- Oglethorpe finished fifth in the field on the par 4’s.
- Oglethorpe also finished third in the field for birdies (50).
- Dunn led the field in birdies with 14 and landed third in the field for par 4 scoring at 1 under par.
- Hiller finished seventh in the field for birdies with 12.
Oglethorpe B Team
- Oglethorpe’s B team competed at the nearby Port City Invitational and took the win, defeating No. 7 Carnegie Mellon’s B team on a scorecard playoff.
- Thomas Reininger led the Petrels with a runner-up finish after shooting 71-74-74.
- Ryan Callaham (77-76-69) took fifth, and Diego Passos (75-76-76) took 17th overall.

Oglethorpe hosts the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational Friday-Sunday, March 21-23, in Jekyll Island, Georgia. It will be the first of four events remaining on the schedule prior to the Southern Athletic Association Championships.
