LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Led by a final round 2-under par 70 from sophomore Emma Berlin, the Georgia State women’s golf team shot a 10-over 298 on Tuesday to finish in 10th place at the 42nd annual FIU Pat Bradley Classic at Lakewood Ranch Golf Club.
Berlin made six birdies during the final round to finish the three-day event tied for 28th at 5-over par.
The Panthers made 44 birdies during the event, the second-most of any team in the field this week.
“Emma came through with a great round today,” head coach Jessica Steward said. “It is great to see her starting to play so well. She is really starting to figure it out. I think that she is going to keep improving and as she learns, will only get better and become a key contributor to our team.
“Although we didn’t place where we wanted to, we were able to hold off some teams who were ranked ahead of us in the first national rankings. Entering today we also talked about finishing the round better and I thought we were able to do that. We will use that as momentum going to our last event of the fall.”
After back-to-back rounds of 71, junior Chloe Howard shot a final round 82 to finish at 8-over par and tied for 41st. Freshman Jenny Marston added a 2-over 74 and tied for 47th at 10-over par, while sophomore Maria Blasco shot 77 and tied for 58th at 13-over par. Junior Petra Duran rounded out the line-up with a 5-over 77 to tie for 80th at 21-over par.
Georgia State will close out the fall season Nov. 4-5, at the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship in Macon, Ga.
