AUGUSTA, Ga. — The field is now set for the annual Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. Saturday April 5 and Sunday April 6. There are 14 teams in the field and feature several of the top 25 programs in the nation.
Headlining this year’s field is #6 North Carolina, #9 Oklahoma State, #11 Arizona and #12 Illinois. Those programs, plus #21 Texas Tech and #22 Notre Dame are ranked in the top 25 of the Scoreboard powered by Clippd national rankings.
“We’re super excited to host these teams and I think it will be a good challenge for our team,” said Steven Paine, men’s golf coach. “Having the Masters in town that week is obviously a big draw. One of the cool things we get to do as part of the event is take the field to watch the practice round on Monday, after our final round. The winner of the tournament also gets a PGA Tour invitation to the Valspar Invitational.”
In the fall, the Jaguars were led by Stefan Jacobs and Bo Blanchard II, who were routinely the top AU golfers. Jacobs registered a fifth place finish at the Bearcat Invitational to start the year. Blanchard finished 19th in the Williams Cup presented by STITCH Golf.
Forest Hills Golf Club is again the host course and has undergone renovation work in the past year with new greens. The course also has been reshaped a bit after hurricane Helene hit the Augusta area, taking down many trees not only on the course, but around the entire area.
