WAYNESVILLE, NC. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team concluded play at the J.T. Poston Invitational in rainy weather at the Waynesville Inn and Golf Club on Tuesday.
“Incredible effort today from our squad climbing the leaderboard and challenging for the win,” head coach Bryant Odom said. “We got into contention but Lipscomb was the stronger team this week. The rain and difficult setup was a big challenge today but I am so proud of the mental toughness and fight from our team. Only one team beat us today and that’s the home team having all the course knowledge and setup experience.”
The Owls finished second after an even-par round of 280. KSU finished at 3-under par 837 for the event. That total score established a new program record on a par-70 course.
Claes Borregaard was the Owls top finisher in the event. The senior made two birdies, an eagle and 11 pars to post a 1-over 71 and finish tied for third at 5-under par 205.
Hunter Gillard rolled in three birdies and 12 pars to post an even-par round of 70. He finished sixth at 2-under par 208.
Shaun Cook had the Owls low round of the day at 1-under par 69. He finished tied for 14th at 1-over par 211.
Luca Gallingani recorded an even-par round of 70 on Tuesday. The freshman finished tied for 24th at 4-over par 214.
Kyle Bachkosky tied for 46th at 10-over par 220. The junior carded a 2-over par 72 in round three.
Playing as an individual, Reed Sweigart tied for 77th at 16-over par 226.
