SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Making his Georgia State debut, senior Jake Milanowski shot an opening round 1-under par 69 to open the fall season on Friday at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate. The Panthers shot a 4-over par 284 to sit in a tie for 10th with 36 holes to play.
Milanowski, a transfer from Auburn, made 17 pars and one birdie, to sit in a tie for 27th following the first round.
Georgia State, which is hosting the 54-hole event at Mirabel Golf Club, includes a field of four teams that reached the NCAA Championship last May and another eight teams that qualified for NCAA Regional play. In the loaded field, the Panthers are currently tied with New Mexico, while sitting ahead of Alabama, Oregon, and Augusta.
Georgia Tech leads the field at 16-under par, while Yellow Jacket Ross Steelman opened the event with an 8-under par 62.
