AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men’s golf team finished in sixth place out of 15 teams on Sunday afternoon at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, hosted by the Jaguars, at Forest Hills Golf Club.
Hosted by Augusta on the par-72, 7,005-yard course, the 41st edition of the tournament endured a 30 minute rain delay on Sunday. No. 3 Wake Forest held a two-shot lead over No. 7 Texas to start round three and went on to win at 36-under-par – the third best winning score in tournament history. No. 19 South Carolina carded second (-33), No. 7 Texas third (-30), No. 37 Arkansas fourth (-19), Notre Dame fifth (-11), and Augusta sixth (-9) for the top teams.
Wake Forest’s Cameron Young won the tournament at 19-under-par. Young shot 63 (-9), 65, and 69.
Augusta shot even par in round three and finished 9-under-par. Junior Gustav Andersson tied for eighth to lead Augusta, after shooting three 2-under 70s in the tournament to finish 6-under-par. Freshman Alex van Wyk shot AU’s low round of the event with a round-three 69 (-3). Augusta rookie Viktor Lindgren tied for 42nd(+3), senior Adam Walden tied for 56th (+6), and sophomore Alex Shead signed for 75th.
