Dalton Golf & Country Club won the GSGA Team Championship for a third time, winning the recent event at the Georgia Club by three strokes over Houston Lake.
The Dalton team shot 13-under 133 the first day with two four-ball scores of 65 and 68. David Noll, who teamed with Brandon Kimmerling to shoot 65 in four-ball, shot 71 in the individual competition. Brian Owens and Chase Jones, who shot 68 in four-ball, carded individual scores of 70 and 71 to give Dalton a 4-under 212 singles total.
Dalton’s winning total was 15-under 345. Houston Lake was 2nd at 348 led by Stan Gann, who teamed with Mitch Green for a 63 in four-ball and shot 67 in singles.
The host team from the Georgia Club was 3rd at 349, with David Mackey firing a 7-under 65 in singles. Cartersville CC and Berkeley Hills tied for 4th at 350, followed by Golf Club of Georgia at 352. Marietta CC and Chicopee Woods tied for 7th at 356.
Senior 4-Ball: The team of Chris Hall and Jack Hall won the GSGA Four-Ball Championship at CC of Columbus, shooting 12-under 201 for 54 holes. Rocky Costa and Lee Dennis were 2nd at 206, with John Gibbs and Ralph Ireland 3rd at 207.
The unrelated Halls shot 66-69-66, carding seven birdies the second day to offset three bogeys and a double bogey. They were tied going to the final round with Costa and Dennis, who parred the first 12 holes to fall three shots off the lead. Costa and Dennis birdied the next two holes, but double-bogeyed the 15th. Gibbs and Ireland shot a final round 66.
Buzz Alexander and Dick Donegan won the first flight, which was played at Green Island CC, with Danny Daniels and Frank Perry the Super Senior winners, also at Green Island.
