Augusta, Ga. — Now in it’s 19th year, the Valspar Augusta Invitational is ready to tee it up at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta March 15-16. The two-day, 54-hole tournament features 13 teams from around the country. The event will consist 36 holes on Saturday and then the final 18 holes are scheduled for Sunday with play beginning at 8 a.m. each day with a shotgun start.
Among the schools competing includes No. 23 Michigan State, No. 31 Central Florida and No. 38 Georgia Southern. Also making the trip to Augusta are Coastal Carolina, Emory, Furman, Michigan, North Florida, Northern Illinois, South Florida, Texas Tech and Yale.
The Jaguars have had a few weeks off since their last event at the Moon Golf Invitational in Florida. In that tournament, Sara Adams continued to lead the way for AU. Adams was the low AU golfer followed by Zoe Pinillos and Marine Legentil.
While the overall results have not been what they had hoped, coach Ember Holloway has seen improvement as the spring portion of the schedule has gone along. Playing on their home course, Hollway is confident the Jaguars will have a solid outing.
In the history of the Valspar Augusta Invitational, AU has won the event twice, in 2016 and 2006 and have finished runner up on six different occasions. The Jaguars have also had medalist honors five different times with Natalie Yoko winning in 2022.
