ORLANDO, F.L. – Valdosta State shot a final round 302 to tie for 14th at the McDonough Cup at the par 72, 6,955 yard Rio Pinar Country Club Tuesday, October 28th, 2014.
VSU finished the three-round tournament at 903 and 39-over par. Lynn won the event at 853 and 11-under par while Nova Southeastern was second t 856. Florida Southern followed in third at 874 while Florida Tech was fourth at 876. Saint Leo, West Florida and Tampa tied for fifth at 884 while Flagler was five strokes behind and in eighth. Columbus State was two more strokes back in ninth while Mount Olive tallied an 897 in 10th. Indianapolis was 11th at 898 followed by Rollins at 899 and Georgia College in 13th at 900. Carson-Newman matched the Blazers at 903 while Armstrong Atlantic was 16th at 905 and Palm Beach Atlantic followed at 939. Eckerd rounded out the field at 957.
John Fordham was two-under par with a 70 on Tuesday and finished the tournament at one-under par to tie for eighth while Chris Rogers shot a final round 78 to tie for 58th at 229 while David Roche shot a 79 on Tuesday and tied for 60th at 230. Alex Jones tallied a final round 75 to tie for 70th at 233 while Olav Zandveld tied for 94th at 243 after a final round 84.
VSU’s Andrew Eunice also competed in the event, as an individual, and finished tied for 66th at 232 after a final round 78.
The tournament concludes the fall schedule for Valdosta State. The Blazers return to action Monday, February 9th, 2015 when it opens play in the Matlock Collegiate in Lakeland, F.L.
