BRASELTON, G.A. – The 14th AJGA Junior All-Star Team includes 20 players from 10 states who are recognized as some of the top 12- to 15-year-old golfers in the world during the 2015 season, the American Junior Golf Association announced Wednesday, August 26th, 2015.
Specifically designed for boys and girls ages 12-15, AJGA Junior All-Star Series events present opportunities for younger players to develop their skills and earn entry into AJGA Open tournaments. The team was selected based on the Polo Golf Rankings, and qualifying players competed in at least two Junior All-Star Series events in 2015. The team of 10 boys and 10 girls will receive an invitation to play in the Junior All-Star Invitational sponsored by NIKEGOLF at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club – Ghost Creek Course in North Plains, Oregon, Oct. 9-12.
In 2015, there were 15 AJGA Junior All-Star Series events providing players with over 1,500 total playing opportunities. In addition to the increased playing opportunities, the 2015 season marked the first time Junior All-Star Qualifiers were added to the schedule, offering an additional 800 opportunities for players to play their way in to the tournament. Since 2002, Junior All-Star Team honors have been awarded to some of the top players in junior golf.
Former members of the AJGA Junior All-Star Team include college and professional standouts such as Rickie Fowler (2004), Morgan Hoffmann (2004), Peter Uihlein (2004), Bud Cauley (2005), Vicky Hurst (2005), Cheyenne Woods (2005), Alison Lee (2007) and Jordan Spieth (2007).
