KENNESAW, Ga. – Women’s golf head coach Erin Thorne announced the 2024-2025 schedule Monday afternoon.
There will be a mix of experience for the Owls having competed in six of the 10 events in previous years. The stark split takes place at the halfway mark with the Owls making their first ever appearances in the first three invitationals.
First up is the Dickie McGuire Invitational Sept. 9-10. The fall’s first tournament will take place in Albuquerque, N.M. Hosted by the University of New Mexico.
The Black and Gold will return to the South as they play in the Hoover Invitational in Hoover, Ala. Sept. 16-17. The state of Alabama digs into the memory bank for the Owls as they ended the ’24 season with an ASUN title birth in Huntsville and the NCAA regional in Auburn.
The last stretch of first-time tournaments ends with the Mary Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich. Sept. 22-23. The event is hosted by Michigan State University at Forest Akers West Golf Course.
The middle of October brings some familiarity for KSU in the Dale McNamara Invitational in Tulsa, Okla. Oct. 14-15. It will mark the fourth time the Owls have participated with their previous competition last year earning a sixth-place finish. Nyah Kelly lead the charge as she tallied career best scores through 18 and 36 holes along with a conference golfer of the week award. It will be the fourth and final tournament in the fall.
After a fourth month lay-off, The Black and Gold will be back in the FAU Invite Feb. 3-4 in Boca Raton, Fla. Kennesaw State partook in the FAU Paradise Invitational in 2023 as the recorded aa fifth place finish with an 8-over 872 team score.
The history is recent, and rich with the Rio Verde Invitational for the Owls. They will tee off Feb. 21-23 in Rio Verde, Ariz. with the previous showcase taking place last spring. Kennesaw State was lifted by an electric performance from Bella Kil as she placed second individually for a fourth-place team finish. The year prior, the Owls outright won the tournament with a one-over 856 out of 16 teams.
The UNF Invitational will lead off in early March in Jacksonville, Fla. hosted by former ASUN foe, North Florida. It will be the third time KSU has participated in the UNF collegiate as they carded a seventh place finish last spring.
The string of experience grows as they will take on the Clover cup March 10-12 in Litchfield Park, Ariz. It will be the largest time in between repeat appearances on the schedule for KSU as they last played in the cup in 2014. The Clover cup will be hosted by Notre Dame.
The stomping grounds come calling March 24-25 when the Owls host the Pinetree Women’s Intercollegiate in Kennesaw, Ga. It marks the fifth straight year the Owls have hosted at Pinetree Country Club. The Owls won the event in 2022 and have never placed outside of the top four.
Rounding out the regular season, The Black and Gold will play in the More Than Golf tournament hosted by the Annika Foundation March 28-30 in Aiken, S.C. It will be the first time KSU has played in the tourney.
For the first time ever, Kennesaw State women’s golf will embark on the CUSA Championship April 14-16 with a location to be determined.
NCAA Regionals take place May 5-7 with host sites being Columbus, Ohio, Lexington, Ky., Norman, Okla., Golf Canyon Ariz., Charlottesville, Va. and Lubbock, Texas.
The NCAA National Championship returns to Carlsbad, Calif. May 16-21.
