ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia golfer Spencer Ralston has been chosen as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, according to an announcement Wednesday by the league office.
The junior from Gainesville, Ga., claimed medalist honors for the first time in his career at the Linger Longer Invitational on Sunday. He had rounds of 70-69-66 for a total of 11-under 205 and a 3-shot victory.
The Ralston-led Bulldogs also picked up a 6-shot victory over Liberty for the team title. All three of Ralston’s rounds counted as the Bulldogs went 287-284-283 for a 10-under 854.
Ralston now has four top-10s this season and 14 for his career. He ranks third among eligible players in the SEC this season with a scoring average of 69.87, and he leads the Bulldogs with 20 par-or-better rounds, including 11 in the 60s.
Ralston and the Bulldogs will return to action April 5-7 in the Clemson Invitational. Georgia will host the Southern Intercollegiates at Athens Country Club on April 15 and an NCAA Regional May 13-15 at the UGA Golf Course. The SEC Championship will take place April 24-28 on St. Simons Island.
