DICKSON, Tenn. — Elizabeth Powell earned a spot in the top 10 and on the All-Conference second team, and Oglethorpe’s women’s golf team rounded out the final day of the Southern Athletic Association Championships Sunday taking fourth overall.
The 54-hole event took place at Greystone Golf Club Friday-Sunday and saw the Stormy Petrels hold steady in fourth place across all three days.
Powell turned in the 10th-best score of the championship with rounds of 79-72-80. She posted pars on four of the last five holes to shoot 3 over on the back nine in Sunday’s round.
Abrianna Carstens and Sophia Morettini landed in the top 20 at 17th and 20th, respectively, and Grace Daech and Hannah Erwig were in the top 25 at T21 and 25th.
Oglethorpe shot 321-316-325 with the third-best round of day two. This marked the end to the Petrels’ season, a season that finished with back-to-back top-four results and four top-10 finishes overall.
Tournament Notes
- Oglethorpe led the field on the par 3’s at a 3.42 average. The Petrels were second in the field on par 5 scoring at 5.40.
- As a team, Oglethorpe posted 132 pars and 17 birdies, both ranking fourth.
- Powell shot 1 under par on the par 5’s to finish fourth in that category. She also led Oglethorpe on the par 4’s.
- Carstens led Oglethorpe on par 3 scoring finishing eighth.
