Braselton, GA—Team USA’s PING Junior Solheim Cup roster was finalized Tuesday (August 11th, 2015) as Kristen Gillman of Austin, Texas, and Haley Moore of Escondido, California, were selected by Team USA Captain JoAnne Carner and Assistant Captain Katie Tahara.
Gillman and Moore join Sierra Brooks of Sorrento, Florida, Hailee Cooper of Montgomery, Texas, Mariel Galdiano of Pearl City, Hawaii, Megan Khang of Rockland, Massachusetts, Nelly Korda of Bradenton Florida, Andrea Lee of Hermosa Beach, California, Mika Liu of Beverly Hills, California, Hannah O’Sullivan of Chandler, Arizona, Kaitlyn Papp of Austin, Texas, and Angel Yin of Arcadia, California, who were selected via the Golfweek and Polo Golf Rankings on July 31, as members of Team USA.
Gillman is the reigning U.S. Women’s Amateur champion and verbally committed to the University of Alabama. During her AJGA career the two-time Rolex Junior All-American has recorded 12 top-five finishes including a victory at the 2013 Valero Texas Junior Open. Gillman along with Lee, Brooks and O’Sullivan represented the United States at the 2014 Junior Ryder Cup, concluding play with an undefeated match play record.
Moore is currently ranked No. 10 in the Polo Golf Rankings and verbally committed to the University of Arizona. The rising senior has posted three victories during her AJGA career, with her most recent win coming at the 2014 ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior. The Rolex Junior All-American made the cut as an amateur at the LPGA Tour’s 2015 ANA Inspiration and has eight top-five AJGA finishes.
Modeled after the Solheim Cup, the PING Junior Solheim Cup biennially features the 12 best female junior golfers (ages 12-18) from the United States against the top-12 junior girls from Europe. The PING Junior Solheim Cup will be played Sept. 14-15, 2015, and the event will feature three sessions of match play: foursomes, four-ball and singles. St. Leon-Rot Golf Club near Heidelberg, Germany, will host the 2015 Solheim Cup and PING Junior Solheim Cup.
Past PING Junior Solheim Cup Team USA members include Paula Creamer (nine-time LPGA Tour champion and winner of the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open), Brittany Lincicome (champion at the 2007 Ginn Open, 2009 Kraft Nabisco Championship and 2015 ANA Inspiration), Morgan Pressel (champion of the 2007 Kraft Nabisco Championship) and Lexi Thompson (2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship). Creamer was the first player to make the move from the PING Junior Solheim Cup to the Solheim Cup Team when she helped lead the U.S. to victory in 2005 with a 3-1-1 record.
The United States and Europe head into the 2015 competition with the U.S. leading the all-time series 4-2-1.
