Gainesville, GA — Amateur Hunter Clay of Woodstock held strong down the stretch to beat a trio of Georgia PGA Professionals in the 5th Annual Milton Martin Classic. With rounds of 69-69 6-under par, Clay, the Reinhardt University rising senior edged Tim Weinhart of Heritage Golf Links, Jacob Tilton of Ansley Golf Club and J.P. Griffin of Capital City Club by one shot.
Clay made birdies on 13, 14, 16 to pull within one of Tilton. After a three putt by Tilton on the par-3 17th, they were tied on the 18th tee. Tilton blocked his tee shot right and made bogey while Clay was able to make a par and claim the title.
Weinhart, Tilton and Griffin took home $1,366 as Low Professional. Defending Champion Greg Edwards of East Lake Golf Club did not play.
