ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia’s Jillian Hollis has been named SEC Women’s Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Hollis, a sophomore from Rocky River, Ohio, captured medalist honors at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic last weekend and helped the No. 8-ranked Bulldogs sweep the team titles in both the stroke play and match play portions of the tournament.
Hollis carded a season-best 5-under 67 on Friday to earn the individual title at the 45th annual Liz Murphey. She notched a three-shot victory over the field on a day when blustery conditions yielded only three under-par scores among the 60 golfers in the field.
The win was Hollis’ second career victory. She also was medalist at the Mountain View Collegiate last spring. Friday’s round was her fifth-straight par-or-better loop dating back to the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate last month.
