JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The No. 10 Oglethorpe men’s golf team posted a 19th of 30 finish at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational this weekend at Pine Lakes Golf Course where they hosted the 54-hole tournament. The Petrels were up against another elite competition pool, with several national top-25 teams in the mix.
Jackson Hiller finished eighth overall and shot 9 under par overall. His first round ended with a score of 67, and his second round ended with 68, moving him up six spots in the rankings. Hiller is ranked No. 4 nationally in Division 3 men’s golf.
Barton Abstein and Ryan Dunn finished 7 over par for the three-round event, where they both tied for 91st. Corbin Scott (105th) and Diego Passos (146th) put up strong rounds to complete the finish for the Petrels.
As a team, Oglethorpe finished third in the field in pars and seventh in the field in par 3 scoring. Hiller was third individually in par 3 scoring, shooting 1 under. He was eighth overall in pars with 37, ranking just four off the lead.
Up next, the Petrels will compete in the Camp Lejeune Marine Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, North Carolina, at Paradise Point Golf Club starting on April 10.
