HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Georgia women’s golf team posted a 311 in Sunday’s (March 8th, 2015) final round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate and finished the weekend in 17th place at 925.
The round completed a busy week for the Bulldogs. Georgia played in the Bruin Wave Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, traveled to Hilton Head on Wednesday, played a Thursday practice round and then three competitive rounds on Friday-Sunday.
“We learned a lot about ourselves as a team and individuals over the past week,” head coach Josh Brewer said. “It’s been a long week but we’re only halfway through our spring season.”
Georgia’s counting scores on Sunday were a pair of 77s by Manuela Carbajo Ré and Harang Lee, a 78 from Isabella Skinner and a 79, the tally signed for by both Sylvie Brick and Sammi Lee.
Overall, Sammi Lee and Skinner tied for 57th at 230, Carbajo Ré and Harang Lee tied for 67th at 233 and Brick tied for 86th at 244.
Georgia will return to action in three weeks when the Bulldogs host the 42nd annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course on March 27-29, 2015.
“Now we get a chance to host a premier event in three weeks,” Brewer said. “This gives us a chance to rest up and hopefully our home course will give us some momentum and get us going in the right direction for the rest of the year.
The tournament will feature teams which have captured 13 of the past 15 national titles competing in a format similar to this year’s format for the NCAA Championships. The 12 competing teams will play one round of stroke play qualifying on Friday, March 13th, 2015, followed by two days of match play on Saturday and Sunday.
