Ollie Schniederjans shot a career-best 6-under-par 66 Tuesday and earned the highest individual finish of his career, and Georgia Tech closed with a 1-under-par total of 287 and finished in fifth place at the Puerto Rico Classic.
Schniederjans, a sophomore from Powder Springs, Ga., birdied 10 holes in his round Tuesday. He completed 54 holes with a 10-under-par total of 206, also a career best.
Tech (-6) was a distant fifth in the 15-team field, which included eight of the nation’s top 50 teams.
“This was a really special round today for Ollie,” said Tech head coach Bruce Heppler. “Making 10 birdies was enjoyable to watch, and I’m excited for him because this is his best collegiate finish. As a team, we have a lot to work on over the next couple of weeks before we play again.”
