ATLANTA – Following a two weeks of practice, the Georgia State women’s golf team will open the season this weekend at the USA Intercollegiate at the Robert Trent Jones Trail – Magnolia Grove (Crossings Course) in Mobile, Ala.
The three-day, 54-hole event will feature 16 teams as the Panthers play their first of four events this fall.
This will mark the third time in four years Georgia State has opened the season in Mobile. The Panthers finished in ninth place in head coach Jessica Steward’s debut two years ago.
Georgia State returns four players from last year, as well as Jenny Marston who redshirted the season. The Panthers also welcome two newcomers in Kansas transfer Ari Acuff and freshman Aubri Braecklein.

Teeing It Up: 16 teams will compete in the 54-hole event
The Schedule: The field will compete Saturday thru Monday playing 18 holes each day. Tee times will begin at 9 a.m. ET each day. Georgia State will be paired with Southern Miss and UAB on Saturday teeing off on Hole #10 at 9 a.m. ET.
Who to Watch: Jenny Marston returns to the line-up after taking a redshirt last year. As a freshman, Marston was second on the team with a 75.16 scoring average.

ICYMI: Georgia State played a shortened, spring-only season last year earning a win and a tie for fourth in six events.
Quotable: “I couldn’t be more excited to get our season started at what is literally my favorite event of the year,” Steward said. “Magnolia Grove hosts the Q-Series stage of the LPGA qualifying school, which tells you how great of a course this it. In preparation for the event, we had the team’s closest and most competitive qualifying tournament yet. That’s a great sign of the progress this program is making. Our top five is playing well and ready to go low.”
