EL DORADO, Ark. – Georgia State finished tied for ninth on Tuesday at the Sun Belt Championship at Mystic Creek Golf Club as three seniors played their final round in the Panther blue and white.
Josh Edgar, Egill Gunnarsson, and Ashton Poole all came back for an additional year following last spring’s conference championship being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but unfortunately could not get things going to earn a top four finish and advance to match play on Wednesday.
Edgar led the Panthers with a tie for 27th following a 77 on Tuesday that left him at 19-over par for the championship. The field played to a 79.15 scoring average in the final round and 78.64 for the championship.
Freshmen Maxence Mugnier and Elliot Anger also shot 77 for the Panthers on Tuesday. Georgia State finished the championship shooting a 313 in the final round.
No. 43 Georgia Southern won the stroke play portion of the championship shooting 35-over par and will face Coastal Carolina in one semifinal on Wednesday. Little Rock came in second place and will face third-place ULM in the other semifinal. Georgia Southern’s Ben Carr earned low medalist honors at 3-over par.
