Former Director of Business Development of the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) , Scott Geary, has been hired as Executive Director of the Georgia Section of the PGA.
Geary was an aspiring baseball player when he growing up. He took up golf to have a sport for the spring. Little did he know the game would take root and become a huge part of his life.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, Geary began his job with the AJGA. He started as an intern and moved into a role as tournament director. He continued to move up the ladder and transitioned into the tournament business affairs and sponsorship department, where he served as the Southeast Regional Manager, Northeast Regional Director and West Regional Director.
Geary said he was encouraged to pursue the job by AJGA executive director Stephen Hamblin.
“Mr. Hamblin was really supportive of my decision to pursue the job,” Geary said. “He thought it was a great fit and encouraged me to pursue it.”
Most recently he has served as Director of Business, where he managed all fundraising, sponsorship, sales and partnership efforts for the AJGA.
Geary said he would like to further develop the PGA Foundation and continue to grow the game with special attention given to youth and diversity.
“The section is in a strong position,” Geary said. “I look forward to building into one of the best sections in the country.”
His hiring occurred just two weeks after the Georgia PGA moved its offices from Roswell to the Murray Golf House at Bobby Jones Golf Course on Northside Drive in Atlanta where it shares part of a complex that includes the Georgia State Golf Association and the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame.
