NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference named Georgia Southern’s Steven Fisk its Men’s Golfer of the Week today.
Fisk won consecutive tournaments over the last two weeks at the Fighting Irish Classic and Autotrader Collegiate Classic and is currently ranked seventh in the country, according to Golfstat.
He shot a career-low 65 to take medalist honors and lead Georgia Southern to the team title in the Autotrader and carded 66-66-65=197 over 54 holes to set the new tournament record and break the Georgia Southern school record by six strokes. Aron Price shot 203 in 2003 and 2005, and Buddy Alexander carded a 203 in the 1975 Schenkel Invitational. Fisk finished 19-under for the tournament to win by 12 strokes.
The junior tied for first at Notre Dame after carding 66-71-67=204 and led Georgia Southern to a second-place finish in the event. He shot under par in all six rounds in the two events and had an impressive 66.83 scoring average. He made par or better on 53 of the 54 holes at the Autotrader tournament.
It was his second and third collegiate tournament wins and he has 12 top-10 finishes in his career, including all three events this season.
