LIMA, PERU — Augusta University golfer Zoe Pinillos finished in a tie for 31st in the Women’s Amateur Latin American championship held in Pinillos’ home country of Peru. The championship was presented by the R&A and the ANNIKA Foundation at Lima Golf Club.
Pinillos, a Jaguar sophomore, fired rounds of 73-78-77-73 to finish in a four way tie with a score of 301. She registered seven birdies during the tournament which was won by Mexico’s Clarisa Temelo, who dominated the field with a six shot victory.
This was the eighth year of the event which featured 60 of the top female amateurs from South America, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Pinillos started strong with a 73 in the opening round, but struggled to get things going the next two rounds before rebounding with a second 73 to finish things up. During the fall campaign for the Jaguars, she competed in four tournaments and is looking to improve when the spring season starts Feb. 2-4 at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fl.
