CARROLLTON, Ga. — The finals have been determined at the Georgia Women’s Match Play Championship and Louise Yu of Duluth will take on Anna Buchanan of Athens for the title Saturday morning at 8:15 a.m. The 19th playing of this competition is being played at Sunset Hills Country Club, June 1-4.
Yu advanced to the final match with wins on Friday over Emma Bell of Braselton (5 and 4) in the quarterfinals and top seed Elisa Yang of Norcross (4 and 3) in the semifinals. Buchanan earned her berth in the Championship match by defeating Courtney Lowery of Greenville (3 and 2) in the quarterfinals and Harmanprit Kaur of Lawrenceville (3 and 2) in the semis.
In the Tournament division, Morgan Collins of Bremen will face Gracie Henderson of Norcross for the division title on Saturday at 8:00 a.m.
After a round of 18 holes of stroke play qualifying to determine seeds, the low 32 players advance to match play in the Championship division. Remaining players compete in the Tournament division.
The 19th edition of the Georgia Women’s Match Play Championship takes place Wednesday, June 1, through Saturday, June 4. The field of 48 played 18 holes of individual stroke play to determine seeds for match play. Entries were open to female amateur golfers with the lowest USGA handicap indexes.
