KENNESAW, Ga. – The Augusta University women’s golf team took fourth place at the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon, after finishing 28-over-par in the 11-team field. Freshman Teresa Diez-Moliner posted the best finish of her career and led the Jaguars with a tie for fifth overall.
The Jaguars started the second round five shots off the lead, but shot 11-over-par in round three to take fourth. AU held off Coastal Carolina by one stroke for the fourth-place spot. No. 19 Kent State finished 2-under for the day to win the event at 9-over-par. No. 40 Ole Miss placed second (+16) and host Kennesaw State overtook third place (+20).
Diez-Moliner dropped a stroke every round for Augusta – shooting 74 (+2), 73 (+1), and 72 (E) to finish tied for fifth in the field of 62. Jags sophomore Linda Lundqvist and junior Maggie Ashmore placed in top 20, with Lundqvist finishing 7-over-par to take a tie for 12thand Ashmore 8-over-par for a tie for 16th.
Jags junior Cecilia Diez-Moliner (T21, +10) and sophomore Charlotte Alran (T45, +26) rounded out the starting five. AU junior Sarah Tychsen logged play as an individual and came in at 59th (+39).
AU concludes its regular season schedule April 14-15 at the Lady Boilermaker, hosted by Purdue, at Ackerman-Allen Hills in West Lafayette, Ind.
