BRASELTON, G.A. – Winn Grips, an AJGA Official Partner, and award-winning golf instructor Butch Harmon will support an American Junior Golf Association event that highlights high school seniors who have not yet committed to play golf at a college or university. First begun in 2012, the Winn Grips / Butch Harmon Senior Championship will be held December 4-6, alongside the annual Golf Coaches Association of America and Women’s Golf Coaches Association national conventions conducted in Las Vegas.
“Winn Grips and I are extremely excited to partner with the AJGA on this unique event,” said Harmon, who has been rated as Golf Digest No. 1 instructor for 14 consecutive years. “The fact that nearly 60 percent of participants have gone on to play on college golf teams speaks volumes.”
An Official Partner since 2009, Winn Grips has provided technology to players as the Preferred Grip of the Junior All-Star Series. In 2015, Winn Grips also supported the Easter-weekend Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic hosted by Longbow Golf Club, held April 2-5. The event, which dates back to 1999, annually fields some of junior golf’s best competition including past champions Hunter Mahan (1999) and Paula Creamer (2003).
“We are thrilled to continue our support of golf’s next generation,” said Dr. Ben Huang, founder and CEO of Winn Incorporated. “This event provides players with a unique platform to gain exposure at the highest level and college golf coaches with the opportunity to add talented players to their rosters for the subsequent season.”
The Winn Grips / Butch Harmon Senior Championship will be held near Harmon’s Las Vegas-based golf school. The Winn Spokesman has coached several notable AJGA alumni including Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker.
“Butch and Winn Grips will directly support the AJGA’s mission and purpose at every stage of the recruiting process,” said AJGA Chief Business Officer Jason Etzen. “This partnership helps ensure more talented junior golfers have the opportunity to reach their dream of playing college golf.”

About the AJGA
The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA provides valuable exposure for college golf scholarships, and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls, ages 12-18) of more than 6,300 members from 48 states and more than 50 foreign countries. Through initiatives like the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant, a financial assistance program, and Leadership Links, a service-oriented platform that teaches juniors charitable-giving skills, the AJGA fosters the growth of golf’s next generation.
Titleist, the AJGA’s National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association’s success since 1989. Rolex, which is in its fourth decade of AJGA support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Ralph Lauren became the AJGA’s second Premier Partner.
AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. Former AJGA juniors have compiled more than 600 victories on the PGA and LPGA Tours. AJGA alumni include Jordan Spieth, Brandt Snedeker, Bubba Watson, Webb Simpson, Hunter Mahan, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Stacy Lewis, Vicky Hurst, Inbee Park, Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr, Brittany Lincicome and Morgan Pressel.
