ATLANTA, GA — J.P. Griffin, PGA Assistant Professional at Capital City Club in Brookhaven fired a final round of 2-under par 69 to win the third edition of the West Pines Classic supported by the City of Douglasville, WealthWise Marketing and Ahead contested at the City of Douglasville’s West Pines Golf Club.
The 31-year-old Griffin finished with a two-day total of 8-under par 134. Griffin defeated Low Amateur Stephen Kinsel of Sugar Hill and Host PGA Professional Chris Cartwright from West Pines Golf Club who both finished at 4-under par 138. Griffin’s 6-under par 65 in Monday’s first round was the low score of the tournament.
For his efforts, Griffin earned the first-place check of $3,300. Kinsel, a rising junior playing collegiately at the University of North Georgia was awarded $600 in golf shop credit. West Pines Golf Club is a par 71 golf course that played to 6638 yards. It is one of the finest municipal golf courses in the state.
The Georgia PGA is one of the 41 Sections of the PGA of America. Its membership includes nearly 870 PGA professionals working at over 265 golf courses, clubs, and ranges throughout the state. Additionally, more than 35 Georgia PGA members compete on one of the PGA Tours.
