DADE CITY, F.L. – The Valdosta State golf team used an 8-over 296 round on the final day in Dade City, Fla. to jump one spot and land in tenth place overall at the Saint Leo Invitational at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.
As they have for most of the young season, Jake Harpe and Chris Rogers represented the top performers for Valdosta State. The pair each shot a 1-over 73 in their final round, edging out teammates Colton Godwin and Mitch Lomis, who each posted a 3-over 75.
The Barry Buccaneers took the tournament with a 28-under 836 team effort over the course of the 54-hole tournament, while North Alabama finished second after posting a 25-under 839 performance. St. Leo claimed third and fourth place with 23-under 841 and 19-under 845 scores, respectively. Meanwhile, Florida Southern locked up in the fifth position with Florida Tech at 18-under 846.
South Carolina-Aiken and Carson Newman both posted 849 strokes for a seventh place tie at 15-under, and Columbus State edged out the Blazers in ninth place with a 2-under 862 score.
