SEASIDE, C.A. – Valdosta State shot a final round 321 to finish 16th at the Otter Invitational at the par 72, 6,869 yard Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course Tuesday, October 21st, 2014.
The Blazers finished the tournament at 93-over-par with a 957. Nova Southeastern claimed the team title as it shot a three-round total of 885 while British Columbia was five strokes back and CSU-Monterey Bay another three. Chico State finished fourth at 907 and Barry was one more shot behind while Simon Fraser tallied a 911 for sixth. Colorado School of Mines followed at 915 while Western Washington was eighth at 916. Lynn had a 921 for ninth and Dixie State rounded out the top 10 at 928.
CSU-East Bay finished 11th at 935 while Hawaii-Hilo was 12th at 937. Colorado-Colorado Springs and CSU-Stanislaus tied for 13th at 940 while Wilmington was 15th at 948. California Baptist was four strokes behind VSU while UC-San Diego finished 18th at 968.
Chris Rogers paced Valdosta State as he tied for 47th after shooting a 78 on Tuesday for a three-round total of 235. Alex Jones tied for 63rd as he fired a final round 83 for a 238 while while John Fordham tied for 68th at 241 after a 79. Jake Harpe, who shot a final round 81, and Olav Zandveld, who tallied a final round 85, each tied for 89th at 248.
Valdosta State returns to action Monday, October 27th, 2014 when it travels to Orlando, F.L. to compete in the McDonough Cup hosted by Rollins.
