Covington, Georgia — Madison Barnett of Mableton, Ga., and Amanda Doherty of Atlanta, Ga., posted a 4-under-par 67 to earn medalist honors and claim the only qualifying spot up for grabs to the 2016 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship. The 18-hole qualifier took place at The Oaks Course in Covington.
The duo of Charlotte Daughan of Orlando, Fla., and Mercedes Huarte of Argentina finished as first alternates at 3-under-par 68. Two teams came in at 2-under-par 69, including Stephanie Bennett of Appling, Ga./Maria Torres of Venezuela and Danielle Davis of St. Simons Island/Ginette Spinucci of Stone Mountain. After a three-hole playoff to determine the second alternate position, the tandem of Bennett and Torres finished ahead of Davis and Spinucci.
The second U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship will be held at Streamsong Resort in Streamsong, Fla., May 21-25, 2016. The U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
