Notes
A team from Georgia, Will Kahlstorf of Watkinsville and Kyle Stiles of Athens, combined for an 8-under-par 64 to earn medalist honors and qualify for the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. The top duo finished a stroke ahead of a Columbus, Ga., tandem, Glenn Albright and Charlie McDaniel, who also qualified via a playoff.
Albright/McDaniel finished tied at 65 with Ben Campbell of Cleveland, Va., and Chip Spratlin of Jonesborough, Tenn., so a playoff was needed to determine the final qualifying team and first alternate. After the extra holes, Albright and McDaniel would prevail over Campbell and Spratlin.
Five twosomes finished at 6-under-par 66, so a second playoff was held to decide the second alternate spot. Georgians Justin Broussard of Hawinsville and Shannon Folsom of Warner Robins finished as second alternate by outlasting the duos of Greg Kennedy of Duluth, Ga./Reece Whitley of Duluth, Ga.; Chad Branton of Cartersville, Ga./Justin Johnson of Canton, Ga.; Mike Cromer of Peachtree Corners, Ga./Dave Poteet of Suwanee, Ga.; and Billy Mitchell of Roswell, Ga./Chris Waters of Atlanta, Ga.
This was an 18-hole qualifier held in Georgia for the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. The 2017 competition will take place at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in Village of Pinehurst, N.C., May 27-31.
