A Georgian duo from Suwanee, Tiffany Kang and Lauren Lightfritz, have qualified for the 2017 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship after earning medalist honors at a qualifier at Atlanta National Golf Club in Alpharetta.
Kang and Lightfritz finished at 5-under-par 67. Also qualifying was the tandem of Georgians, including Jenny Bae of Maysville and Elisa Yang of Norcross, who finished at 2-under-par 70. Another team finished with a score of 70 – Laura Coble of Augusta and Margaret Shirley-Starosto of Woodstock – so a playoff was needed to determine the final qualifying spot.
On the first two playoff holes (#1, #2), both teams made par. On the third playoff hole (#3), Bae and Young made birdie to clinch the final qualifying spot over Coble/Shirley-Starosto.
Coble and Shirley-Starosto finished as first alternate. The twosome of Abigail Bolt of Canton, Ga., and Skylar Thompson of Buford, Ga., finished as second alternate.
This was an 18-hole qualifier held in Georgia for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship. The 2017 comeptition will take place at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C., May 27-31.
