SILVIS, Ill. – Georgia men’s golf alum Davis Thompson won the John Deere Classic with a tournament record-breaking 28-under, 256, winning his first PGA TOUR event in his 63rd career start at the TPC Deere Run on Sunday.
Thompson shot 63-67-62-64 to win the event by four strokes. He is the 17th former Bulldog to win a PGA TOUR event and the 12th under Georgia head coach Chris Haack.
“I’m so proud of Davis,” Coach Haack said. “Not only did he accomplish his first PGA TOUR win but he broke the tournament scoring record and played incredible golf. I’m looking forward to watching his young career continue to unfold.”
With the win, Thompson sits at No. 22 in the FedEx Cup rankings and qualifies for The Open in 2024 and the Master’s in 2025. Thompson is the 24th player to make the John Deere Classic his first PGA TOUR victory.
