LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, TENNESSEE — Legendary golf course architects Rees Jones
and Bill Bergin broke ground on the renovation of The Course at McLemore on April 23, 2018.
The renovation includes the green complexes and bunkers of all 18 holes as well as select
fairways.
“I am looking forward to getting underway at The Course at McLemore,” said Jones. “The
natural site is ideal for golf, with beautiful vistas and dramatic terrain.”
Following the renovation, the course is scheduled to reopen in Q4 2018. The Course at
McLemore will become a private golf club in May 2018, limiting membership to McLemore
property owners.
The golf course is part of an overall plan for the McLemore Resort that will include the
construction of a 200+ room hotel between the first and eighteenth fairways overlooking
McLemore Cove.
“From the moment I stepped foot on the land encompassed by The Course at McLemore, there
has been a sense of anticipation, excitement and serenity,” said Bergin. “What a beautiful
feeling one gets when simply taking in all that is offered here.”
The Course at McLemore is the only true mountaintop golf course in the Southeast United
States. McLemore is the former Canyon Ridge Resort, which was purchased by Chattanooga-
based Scenic Land Company in 2017.
