The Dogwood and *Surgical Information Systems Strike Gold
*National Provider of Perioperative IT Supports the Development of Amateur Golfers
ATLANTA – April 20, 2012 – The Dogwood Invitational, ranked as the 13th amateur golf tournament in the nation, and the 25th in the world, announced today the national support of Surgical Information Systems (SIS), a leading provider of perioperative information systems. The endorsement and gold sponsorship provides funds to market the Dogwood to the world’s elite amateurs, support the Atlanta Junior Golf Association, and provide scholarship dollars to worthy golfers pursuing their undergraduate degrees.
In 2011, the Dogwood field of 87 players consisted of 58 of the world’s top 200 male amateur golfers. Those players competed over 72 holes for the coveted Dogwood Invitational trophy, which was won by Nate McCoy, a senior at Iowa State University.
“Success in the game of golf is based on precision – a quality that drives everything we do here at SIS,” said Kermit Randa, Chief Operating Officer. “Perioperative teams depend on our ability to provide easy-to-use nursing and anesthesia documentation. The availability of accurate, complete information throughout a surgical procedure is a key factor in caregivers providing precise care and we are honored to sponsor the Dogwood Invitational in our community which supports world class athletes who live and breathe precision every day.”
“The Dogwood Invitational’s history shows our commitment to golf – and our coverage in the media over the last few years shows the important role golf plays in developing amateur talent,” said Edward Toledano – tournament chairman, The Dogwood
Invitational. “Bill Haas, Dustin Johnson and Webb Simpson all played our links before they went on to international rapport. Its future golf greats like them you’ll get to see June 25 – June 30, right here at Druid Hills.”
Tournament participation is by invitation only, with eight open spots in the qualifier held Monday, June 25, prior to tournament play.
