Georgia Southern golfer Will Evans (McDonough,Ga./Eagles Landing Christian Academy) has been named a
Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, it was announced today.
Evans logged four top-15 outings in the 2012-13 season and finished with a stroke average of 74.91. The rising senior shot an even-par 216 at the Samford Intercollegiate to tie for fifth, his best finish of the season. He led the Eagles with a 225 to tie for 12th at the Southern Conference Championships and shot an even-par 216 to tie for 13th at the Warrior Wave Invitational in Hawaii.
Evans, who maintains a 3.43 grade point average and majors in international trade, is a three-time member of the SoCon Academic Honor Roll and was named SoCon All-Academic for the second consecutive season last spring. He is one of 152 players in Division I golf to earn All-America Scholar honors.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
