ATLANTA, Ga. — Newly elected PGA of America Member, Jeff Cammon, an Assistant Professional from Sea Island Golf Club, won the Georgia PGA Professional Championship. The Championship was held May 6-7 in Savannah, GA at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club – Deer Creek Course and also served as a qualifier to compete in the 57th PGA Professional Championship in the spring of 2025. The qualifier had three spots available along with four alternate spots.
Cammon turned in a winning total of 3-under par, 141 but carded a 68 in his final round to get into a three-way playoff against back-to-back champion Chris Cartwright, PGA of America Head Professional from West Pines Golf Club and Todd Ormsby, PGA Director of Instruction of Canongate 1 who carded an impressive 8-under par final round. Ormsby eventually was eliminated in the 2nd playoff hole, but secured one of the three qualifying spots for the 2025 PGA Professional Championship being contested at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL. Cammon and Cartwright went another two holes before Cammon was able to dethrone the back-to-back champion. Both claimed the other two spots for the 2025 Championship. For Cammon’s efforts, he earned the first-place check of $2,500.
The four alternate spots also went to a playoff to determine the order. That order is, PGA of America Head Professional, Jason McKinney of St. Marlo Country Club, PGA Director of Instruction, Pete Jones of Cherokee Town & Country Club, PGA Teaching Professional, Jacob Tilton of Ansley Golf Club, and PGA Director of Instruction, David Potts of The Country Club of The South.
