Bradenton, F.L. – Georgia Tech’s Ollie Schniederjans, ranked as high as seventh in the nation individually this year, has been named a first-team All-American for the second time by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
The PING First-Team All-America honorees for Division I were announced by the GCAA at the NCAA Golf Championship Tuesday morning (June 2nd, 2015), and also included Bryson Dechambeau of SMU, New Mexico’s Gavin Green, Beau Hossler of Texas, Georgia’s Lee McCoy, Maverick McNealy of Stanford, Washington’s Cheng-Tsung Pan, Arizona State’s Jon Rahm and Max Rottluff, Robby Shelton of Alabama and Vanderbilt’s Hunter Stewart.
The Tech senior from Powder Springs, Ga., won his sixth career tournament in the fall, the Carpet Capital Collegiate, and has been a runner-up three other times among his nine top-10 finishes this year. He was ranked No. 7 nationally in the Golfweek/Sagarin Index and No. 10 in Golfstat entering the NCAA Championship.
Schniederjans was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year for the second time this spring, and to the All-ACC team for the third time. He averaged 70.51 strokes over 37 rounds this year, and finished his Tech career No. 2 all-time in stroke average at 70.96.
Schniederjans will join his classmate Anders Albertson and his coach Bruce Heppler for the 2015 Palmer Cup held later in June at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., and also will compete in the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash., and the Open Championship at St. Andrews, Scotland before turning pro.
