VALDOSTA, G.A. – Saint Leo made a big second round lead hold up as the Lions won the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate by nine strokes Tuesday, March 10th, 2015, at the par 72, 7,311 yard Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
Saint Leo shot a final round 291 and finished the tournament with a five-under 859 while Lynn finished second at 868 after also shooting 291 on Tuesday. Barry jumped to third as it shot the lowest round of the day at 289 to finish at 876 while Flagler carded a 296 to finish fourth at 881. Florida Tech followed at 884 as it shot a 293 on Tuesday while Florida Southern (298) was sixth at 885 and Georgia College (300) seventh at 891.
Host Valdosta State, which shot a 298 in the final round, and Columbus State (299) tied for eighth at 892 while North Alabama (295) rounded out the top 10 at 295. Armstrong State was 11th as its final round 306 gave it a total of 895 and West Florida (302) was 12th at 900 while Georgia Southwestern (302) was a stroke behind. Delta State tallied a 303 to finish 14th at 902 while Lander tallied a 297 for a 911. Rollins (305) had a 918 for 16th and Clayton State (300) a 921 while Eckerd (314) rounded out the field at 936.
North Alabama’s Forrest Knight carded a final round 69 and shot an eight-under 208 to claim individual medalist honors. Barry’s Mario Beltran, who shot a final round 71, Florida Tech’s Ray Badenhorst (71) and Columbus State’s Robert Mize (68) tied for second at 211 while Florida Southern’s Jimmy Jones carded a final round 72 to finish fifth at 213.
For Valdosta State, Chris Rogers shot a final round 70 to pace the Blazers with a three-over 219 to tie for 14th while John Fordham carded a final round 74 to tie for 17th at 220. Davis Roche was two strokes behind and tied for 21st after a final round 78 while Jake Harpe tied for 62nd at 232 after shooting 77. Andrew Eunice also shot a 77 Tuesday and finished 85th at 239.
Valdosta State returns to action Monday, March 16, 2015, when it begins play at the Bobcat Invitational in Eatonton, Ga.
