KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Augusta University senior Robin Petersson shot back-to-back rounds in the 60s to take first place individually at the 2015 Kiawah Classic by Aramark while the Jaguars finished tied for third out of 22 teams. Inclement weather washed out round three scheduled for Tuesday (November 3rd, 2015).
The No. 33 Jaguars shot one-over par (289) in round one and dropped three strokes from the team score to card a round-two 286 (-2) and finish in a tie for third with No. 6 Duke in their final fall tourney. Charleston Southern ran away with the lead on their home course and won at 10-under par. No. 22 Virginia took second at five-under par, No. 6 Duke and Augusta tied for third, and College of Charleston rounded out the top-five team.
The Jaguars finished in the top 10 in all five tournaments this fall.
Ranked No. 74 in the nation according to Golfstat.com, Petersson birdied five holes in round one to score a 68 (-4) and shot a 66 (-6) in the second to move to 10-under par and the tournament. This is Petersson’s second title this fall after he won the NC State Wolfpack Intercollegiate on Oct. 6, 2015.
Augusta’s Broc Everett and Jake Marriott tied for 29th, with Everett shooting a 71 (-1) on Tuesday and Marriott a 75 (+3) after shooting a 71 (-1) in round one. Viktor Edin tied for 45th with a 74 (+2) in round two and Maverick Antcliff turned in his second 76 (+4) of the event and to tie for 66th.
Augusta returns to the course in 2016 at the Southwestern Jones Invitational on Feb. 29-March 1, 2016 hosted by Pepperdine in Somis, California.
