NORMAN, O.K. – Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars for Divisions I, II and the NAIA have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America and rising senior Robin Petersson represented the GRU Augusta men’s team on the Division I list.
A total of 207 players in Division I, 91 in Division II and 17 in NAIA earned the All-American honor. Additionally, 34 honorees were added to the previously released Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars.
Robin Petersson played in 12 events and logged 34 rounds lasts season for the Jaguars in 2014-15. As a junior he recorded a 71.91 average score and ended the year with a No. 81 national ranking. Petersson shot in the 60’s on six different occasions and shot par or better 17 times. He won the MEAC Championship overall – shooting 69 (-3) and 67 (-5) in the two rounds of play as the Jags won the team title on April 25, 2015. Overall in 2014-15, Petersson finished in the top 20 eight times and the top 10 four times.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Petersson and the Jaguars open the 2015-16 season in a three-day event at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia County Club – the host site of the 2015 U.S. Amateur in Olympia Fields, Ill.
