Johns Creek, GA — PGA head professional Donn Perno from Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta won the third annual Rivermont PGA Championship at Rivermont Golf Club in Johns Creek presented by St. Michelle Vineyards on the first playoff hole over Georgia Golf Hall of Fame Member James Mason from Dillard, PGA professionals Kyle Owen of Dunwoody Country Club and Seth McCain of Jennings Mill Country Club in Watkinsville.
Perno, who had carded a first round of one over par 73, played his second round in three-under par 68 to make the playoff for this 36-hole championship which was conducted in one day. Amateur Hayden Poole of Johns Creek had an opportunity to win on the final hole, but his long birdie attempt went several feet by the hole and he missed his par attempt, allowing the four PGA professionals to play off for the title. For his efforts, Perno earned the first place check of $2,000.
Low amateur honors were shared by Poole, Donny Phillips who plays out of The Farm Golf Club, and Kane Whitehurst from the Atlanta Athletic Club.
