ATLANTA, GA, February 22, 2016 – An impressive field of World Golf Hall of Famers and former major championship winners will return to TPC Sugarloaf this April at the fourth annual Mitsubishi Electric Classic in Duluth, Ga., an official PGA TOUR Champions event. The field is highlighted by the winners from each of the previous three tournaments, Defending Champion Olin Browne, 2014 Champion Miguel Angel Jimenez, and 2013 winner and World Golf Hall of Famer Bernhard Langer.
“I’m really looking forward to coming back and defending my championship on one of the most challenging courses we play all year on the PGA TOUR Champions,” said Browne. “The volunteers, tournament staff, and fans make the Mitsubishi Electric Classic a must for the players. One of the best courses we play is guaranteed to attract one of the strongest fields of 2016 and it’ll be all I can do to defend. I’ll be there and I hope you all are too. See you in April.”
Langer, in addition to claiming the inaugural Mitsubishi Electric Classic title, also captured the 2015 Charles Schwab Cup. A two-time Masters champion, he’s off to another strong start in 2016, leading the Charles Schwab Cup race after winning the Chubb Classic and netting a pair of Top 10 finishes.
Other notable players in the field include several former major champions including World Golf Hall of Famer Sandy Lyle (Masters), Craig Stadler (Masters), Lee Janzen (U.S. Open), Mark Calcavecchia (British Open), Bob Tway (PGA Championship), Jeff Sluman (PGA Championship), and Mark Brooks (PGA Championship).
The field also includes several accomplished former PGA TOUR players, including Kenny Perry, who captured 14 PGA TOUR titles, Brad Faxon, who won nine times on the PGA TOUR, Jesper Parnevik, who tallied five victories on the PGA TOUR, and Kirk Triplett, a three-time winner on the PGA TOUR.
