DALLAS – Sophomore Alessandra Nagayo led the way for Kennesaw State women’s golf this week at the Pinetree Women’s Collegiate, earning Conference USA Golfer of the Week honors, the league announced on Wednesday.
The Ontario, Canada native posted rounds of 72-70-75 for a 4-over total of 217 and a sixth-place finish overall.
Nagayo opened the tournament as the team leader, posting a 1-over par 72 for Round 1 with three birdies and 12 pars. She then turned in a strong second round, finishing with three birdies in the final five holes to post a 1-under 70 and an even par finish on the first day.
On Tuesday, she once again led the way, carding a 4-over par 75 to finish sixth overall for the tournament individually at 4-over.
Nagayo is the Owls’ second golfer of the week this season after teammate Nyah Kelly earned the honor on Feb. 5.
Kennesaw State will turn around and play this weekend at the Annika Foundation’s “More Than Golf” Invitational in Aiken, S.C. on March 28-30 in its last tournament before the Conference USA Championship on April 14-16.
