GREENSBORO, Ga. — The Augusta men’s golf team is taking part in the Linger Longer Invitational at The Landing at Reynolds Lake Oconee. After one round, the Jaguars are in 14th place. The field features five teams ranked in the top 50 in college golf. Georgia has the lead at -17 with South Florida and South Carolina a shot back at -16. The Jaguars were +8 after the first of three rounds and are four shots out of the top 10.

Playing as an individual, Chapman Barnett was the low AU golfer on Sunday at -4 and in sixth place. Barnett had a string of five straight birdies on the back nine to go along with two others on the front nine and registered a 68. Three bogeys were the only thing from keeping him from going lower. Frankie Harris of South Carolina is currently in first place, four shots ahead of Barnett.
On the team portion, Bo Blanchard II registered a 71 and is 24th overall. Blanchard had a pair of birdies on the front nine and then carded three more on the back. A double bogey and bogey were the only scores that worked against him to start the tournament.
Stefan Jacobs had a rocky start to his day and went out at +5, but got things going coming in with four birdies in the final nine holes, as he sits at +1.
Dean Wilken, coming off his best tournament of the year, and Behn Heyns, had the other two counting scores for the team. Wilken shot a 75 while Heynes carded a 78. Pieter Rossouw Jr. is the other Jaguar in the field and posted an opening round score of 79.
