MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – GRU Augusta women’s golf freshman Lexi Bollant competed as an individual to shoot 8-over par and earn a tie for 10th out of 48 golfers at the 2014 Wendy’s Invitational, hosted by Charleston Southern University in Mount Pleasant. S.C., from October 6-7, 2014. The Jaguars sent three individuals overall, with senior Shannon Pak carding a tie for 26th at 22-over par and freshman Maggie Ashmore taking a tie for 40th at 34-over.
Charleston Southern hosted the two-day event at the Rivertowne Country Club on the par-72 course. College of Charleston took the team title while the following teams finished second through eighth: Charleston Southern, Bethune-Cookman, Tennessee Tech, Longwood, Presbyterian, USC Upstate, and The Citadel.
Bollant shot 75 (+3) in rounds one and two on Monday. She double bogeyed on No. 4 to begin her final round on Tuesday, but she fired consecutive birdies on six and seven to get even. She ended round three with a 2-over 74 and a 224 (+8) for the tournament. Pak tied for 26th with a 238 (+22), shooting 78 and 80 twice. Ashmore signed for a 250 (+34), shooting 87 and 86 in the first two rounds, but she dropped nine strokes and carded a round-three 77 (+5).
The Jaguars return to play with a full lineup on October 13, 2014 when they begin the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, hosted by East Carolina in Greenville, N.C.
